A good example in business travel would be how to predict the cost of a trip booked by a Road Warrior (so named as they travel constantly).
One key data element for predicting the cost of their next trip might be – the average cost of the air fare, hotel stays and ground transportation expenses over their past five or 10 trips.
Every time a trip is completed these averages must be re-calculated. Engineered features are highly influential in deriving insights or predictions that drive best-in-class results.
Engineered features in Cerebri AIQ are re-calculated as the data changes, not when the metric using such an engineered feature is needed.
